Know Your Product, Know your Market - Starbucks literally used the environment to triumph

I must start off by saying that I did not start drinking coffee till I hit the age of 30 years of age! 

Why did I start drinking coffee at the age of 30 you may ask yourself, simple I had my second child at the age of 30 and I was so low on sleep mixed with 10 - 12 hour working days the caffeine hit was a no brainer as it gave me a boost, woke me up and actually made me feel better! 

This leads me onto the reason for this blog, I am mixing in how companies use my current situation above to provide a service or product and make eye watering profits to dominate and triumph. 

Keeping it short, if you sold coffee online, you literally just could target your online ads to new parents and/or single parents...... WHY? all you need to do is re-read my intro, I had a problem and you can provide me with the solution... Coffee.... get it? 

Today I am talking about Starbucks ☕☕ and why they started out in the selected location. 

Did you know Starbucks opened first in Seattle? 

Do you know why Starbucks initially opened in Seattle? 

Well.... some may say Starbucks knew their product and they knew their market! The thing is, Seattle in terms of seasons have very long and dark winters. 

What has this got to do with coffee you may  bethinking....? Well Long dark winters in places like Seattle meant people where/are depressed, no to little sunlight suffering from S.A.D (Seasonal Affective Disorder) or Winter depression 🧊🥶❄ so people of Seattle are low in moral, so what do you you think the people of Seattle craved due to the long dark winters and low energy? Yep you guessed it Coffee! Now role in Starbucks 💲💲💲💲🤑🤑🤑💰💰💰💰

The above is a great business coaching tip/lesson, in order to triumph know the market, location, season, weather pattern depending on your product or service!

If the environment is causing an issue to people then it is your job to provide a service and solution, get this right and you do two things, 

1. You solve a problem for so many 

2. You create something magic 

BTW Starbucks are now worth $28 billion 😯 If you want a piece of this then start modelling the successful people and businesses, look for more solutions to provide, listen to peoples problems to see if you can provide a solution and you will have the next billion dollar business.

SECRET.....Why A List Is So Important To You & Your Business

If you have any type of business from a physical store to eCommerce to providing a service or digital product the secret you need to know and understand is "YOU" need to start creating your email/customer list like yesterday!



I feel too many people/businesses focus on the front end sale and forget about the browsers who are close and almost ready to buy! Let me give you an example, you get 300 visits to your shop in one day 50 give you clear buying signs that they want your product/service now! Another 150 browse and 100 are just time wasters. Where most go wrong is the focus on the 50 quick today sales.

What have we done with the 150 that browsed showing a sign of interest but the timing was not right? Probably nothing, what happens next is we start to struggle to find new customers because we may have wasted this vital opportunity letting the customers walk away for good and not control the situation bu getting them on your LIST

This why building a list is so important not only will you capture the people who bought, you will also capture the 150 people who could have been a potential buyers!

NOW I HAVE MY LIST
1. People who bought - offer them a repeat product/service or new product/service
2. People who browsed - let them know that everyone else has seen great results from X or enjoying the benefits of using Y

If you follow this practice you will build your list to 10,000s so you don't have to chase new customers, when you want more income you simple just send an email to your list and watch the sales come to you?

Am I making sense?

You Make a Sale = You Get the persons email address
You Get a browser = You Get the persons email address

WHAT NEXT.................

Follow up is KEY = now you have people on your database you just do the simple follow-ups by giving value on the email and promoting a product "dual information!"

Today I want to talk about impostor syndrome!!!!

Impostor syndrome (also known as impostor phenomenon, impostorism, fraud syndrome or the impostor experience) is a psychological pattern in which one doubts one's accomplishments and has a persistent internalized fear of being exposed as a "fraud". 

STAY WITH ME HERE..... I have coached 100's of people on this subject when I worked as an International Head Hunter for 15 years... You see people who I placed in their first careers started at the bottom on say £250 per day and I worked with them over the years when their experience grew where I negotiated their day rates to over £800 and many £1200 per day they would feel like an impostor and doubt themselves and almost feel like a fraud, this was because they needed reminding all the late hours and early morning starts on training, the weekends they missed with friends and families due to more training, studying and hitting deadlines, the lessons learnt on projects and setbacks and the £1000's they spent on training to be an expert in their field.. its only then when you look back and walk through your journey you truly understand that you are on £1000 per day not by luck but by focus, taking action, investing in yourself (time and money) 

I had to reminded myself on this subject due to my shift from just being a Head Hunter to becoming a Social Media Professional 

Now that I have my coaching course to Dominate Social Media it has allowed me to walk back through my journey to remind myself that its not luck that got me here.............

Become a social media Weed | Now that I know this, it has given me more focus to keep growing |

The other day I was doing the gardening and got frustrated because once again the "Weeds" had grown through the grass, around the block paving and also around my plants and decking area!

ARRHHHHHH! WEEDS AGAIN!!



What I did to get rid of the Weeds the previous week!

• Weed Killer
• Pulling the weeds from the root 
• Mowing over them and strimming them off  
• Kicking them etc... etc..... biting them OFF..... OKaY not biting them but was thinking about it!

But within a week or so they just popped back up... like huh... THAT ALL YOU GOT... B!TCH!! 

Then it hit me..........As you may know, I focus on positive mindset to deal with negativity, setback and just SH!T HAPPENS situations... within my social media journey 

So I thought ARN TERRY --- BECOME A WEED.... no matter what you do to a weed, it is so focused to grow and succeed that no one or nothing can stop it... weeds have a desire and focus just to keep going no matter what.... 

So now! My mindset is.... become a weed, anyone who has taken the step to dream big, set up a social media business to grow it into a paying business will fail and loose every other day... you have to get used to being a loser and failure to succeed because if you can't deal with all the setbacks and PAIN... you just give up and go back to a regular job.. 

When I was in school, being called a weed was a negative and bad thing... if you was called a weed it meant you was weak... small...scared...afraid....the complete opposite of strong... now tell me really do you think a weed is weak?  Look over the steps I took to get rid of them...

You can step on a flower and it can be dead within days and you have to wait a year for it to grow back...............now again tell me do you think a WEED is weak...

Spotting eBook Trends

The books and publishing sector passed through a lot of transformations over the past years with eBooks gaining prominence. Ever since, digitization evoked in every sphere of life with mobile apps in the lead role, books and publications businesses too made a breakthrough with the same. Known as "Digital versions of the printed books", eBooks circulate on the internet as PDF files. They can be read on a range of smart devices, eReaders like Amazon's Kindle that promise a hassle-free comfortable reading experience. On the other hand, apps are there as basic tools to help reading eBooks in smartphones, tablets for those who do not own an eReader.

No doubt, the eBook industry is in its infancy stage and far away from influencing its massive number of publishers. However, till date, it has only proved to widen the market scopes for the publishing houses exceptionally. #4 Self-publishing will become more prominent

In the earlier context, getting a story or information published meant associating with a hardcore publishing agency. However, the occurrence of eBooks empowered storytellers and journalists for self-publishing. Most eReading apps offer a direct publish option to get their work to the world in 1-2 days.

#5 Books reviews and discussions

The authors not only need a consistent reader base but also should make efforts to get more readers. Thus, apps are having the corresponding segment for letting reader post informative reviews, engage in thought-provoking discussions on a particular read, share their reviews on social media. All these help authors to spark up their presence in the mobile and web world.

No doubt, apps and smart devices are transforming the business models of publishing houses to a completely digital environment. However, competition is on the rise in this sector too. Publishers and self-publishers should not only restrict the mobile engagement to reading but also engage readers in other activities like reviews, social sharing, discussions, etc.
